By Axios President Donald Trump on February 13, 2018, 8:50:07am ESTThe president said during an interview with Fox News that it was “unbelievable” that the late George Washington “was a Democrat.”
The president was responding to a question about how the late president would have voted in the 2016 presidential election.
When asked about the “unreliable” claim, the president responded, “I never thought of it like that.
George Washington did not vote for the Democrats.”
When asked how he would have handled the situation in a similar situation, the current president replied, “Well, I think George Washington would have done a very, very good job.
He probably would have been the president, and that’s the way I would have thought.”
The president added, “But that’s not what happened.
The Democrats ran the country and they ran the world.
So I think that would have made a difference.”
The “unproven claim” comes from a Fox News poll that shows Trump’s approval rating at a record low at 49 percent.
He was not on the same scale as his predecessor.
The president did not elaborate on the claim that he was considering impeaching the late leader.
